Trade at the Simmental Society autumn show and sale was steady throughout with prices reaching to 1,550gns twice at Carlisle on Friday 11th November 2005.

The first leading price tag of 1,550gns went to local breeders John and Elizabeth Peile of the Pasturehouse herd at Bolton Low Houses, Wigton. Pasturehouse Revel had earlier in the day collected the Reserve Overall Male Championship award. A son of Harestone Hercules and out of a Cloford Banker bred daughter, he was sold to Mr J Kirk of Mainshead, Dumfries.

Judge Mr Brian Allan presenting the Reserve Champion award to Mr John Peile.

Also selling for 1,550gns was Mendick Rooster from Peebleshire breeder John Dykes of West Linton. Rooster, a March 2004 born son of Hockenhull Matthew and out of a Woodhall Dynamite bred mother, had earlier in the day won first prize in the pre-sale and was sold to Messrs McDowall & Co of Culquhasen, Glenluce, Newton Stewart.

The journey from Leicestershire for Messrs WR Eales & Sons of the Peatling herd paid dividend as their only entry sold for 1,500gns. Peatling Roland is not stranger for the judging ring has he has already won numerous prizes including Breed Championships during the summer show season. Sired by the home bred bull Peatling James, he was knocked down to Messrs JA & E Dinwoodie of Archerbeck, Canonbie.

In the female section an incalf heifer from Bill and Christine Heaps of Chorley, Lancs, secured the top price of 1,350gns. Rosten Wednesday 5th, a December 2002 born daughter to Rosten Kash and out of a Rickardstown Jumbo daughter, was sold to Messrs W & S Airey of West Hall, Canforth.
