The Simmental breed was very much to the fore at the Devon County Show held on 16th-18th May and where they won the Reserve Individual Interbreed Continental, the Junior Interbreed Championship, the Interbreed Team of Three, and placed third in the Interbreed Pairs.
Bosahan Nansloe 22, Overall Supreme Simmental Champion, and Reserve Interbreed Continental Champion, 2024 Devon County Show.
It’s a big well done to John, Bridget and Daniel Olds, Bosahan Farm, Falmouth, Cornwall who won the Overall Simmental Championship, Male Championship, and the Interbreed Reserve Continental award, with their October 2022 born bull Bosahan Nansloe 22. Judging the Simmental classes was well-known Simmental breeder David Sapsed, High Heath Farm, Hitchin, Herts.
Bosahan Nansloe October 22 is by the herd sire Kinclaven Infusion (P), and is out of Bosahan Impish Miss Natalie VG 87, a Skerrington Armada daughter. Through the show Bosahan Nansloe 2, who carried strong calving ease figures, was sold to the Halstock Herd of AAM Farms Ltd, Daisy Farm, Yeovil, Somerset.
🎖 Picking up the Female Championship and the Overall Reserve Supreme was the two-year-old heifer Tregnether Nellie from Stephanie Hooper, Castle View, St Columb Major, Cornwall. Nellie is by the homebred sire Tregnether Jackpot 18 (TF), and is out of Liskerret Blossom 12th, a Chyanhal Cornishman 11 daughter. Later in the show Bosahan Nansloe 22 and Tregnether Nellie teamed up to place third in the Interbreed Pairs.
Tregnether Proper Job 23, Interbreed Junior Champion, and Reserve Male Simmental Champion, 2024 Devon County Show.
It was a super show for the Tregnether herd who also picked up the Interbreed Junior Championship with their March 2023 born Tregnether Proper Job who had previously placed Reserve Male Champion in the Simmental section. Tregnether Proper Job is also by Tregnether Jackpot 18 (TF), and is out of Treverbyn Inca, a Bosahan Dixon 12 daughter. Capping a great couple of days the Tregnether herd also won the Interbreed Team of Three with Tregnether Proper Job 23, Tregnether Polly (first prize in the Simmental 2023 heifer class) and Tregnether Pixie, with all three being sired by Tregnether Jackpot 18 (TF).
In what was a quality show for the Simmental breed, Mr & Mrs JM Grose & Son won the Simmental calf class with their August 2023 born bull Trewarnevas Poldark. This calf, +11 for Maternal (Milk) is by Killiworgie Kaylup 19, and is out of Bosahan Keira Emma Star, a Heathbrow Freddie Star 14 daughter.
Well done to all in what was a ‘proper job’ for the Simmental breed!
