Northern Ireland Simmental Breeders' Club: Annual Awards & Winners
Simmental breeders were recognized for their achievements at the Northern Ireland Simmental Cattle Breeders’ Club annual dinner and awards presentation, receiving numerous accolades including the Danske Bank Silver Salver for Haystar Cracker, the Irwin Perpetual Challenge Cup for Slieveroe Caroline as supreme overall champion at Balmoral Show, and various Danske Bank Crystal Awards for Female, Reserve Female, Male, and Reserve Male of the Year. The event celebrated successful cattle and breeders, with other awards such as the Bruces Hill Cattle Company Trophy, SH Watterson (Oakland) Perpetual Cup, The News Letter Shield, Bobby Gamble Perpetual Challenge trophy, Bangor and Six Road Ends Trophy, Silver Awards, Irwins Feeds Perpetual Challenge Cup, Merial Animal Health Crystal Award, DANI Rosebowl, Perpetual Shield for Young Stockperson, and the Betty Walker Memorial Perpetual Challenge Cup for Club Member of the Year.

The Northern Ireland Simmental Cattle Breeders’ Club held its annual dinner and presentation of awards recently in Dungannon.
Club chairman Nigel Glasgow reflected on another successful year, and thanked the sponsors for their continued financial support.
The trophies were presented by Mrs Phyllis Glasgow and were awarded as follows:
Danske Bank Silver Salver, for the champion at the club’s spring show and sale: Haystar Cracker bred by Gavin Hayes and Sons, Upper Ballinderry.
Trophy for best of opposite sex to the champion at the club’s spring show and sale: Derrycallaghan Crown Princess bred by Harold Stubbs, Lisbellaw.
Bruces Hill Cattle Company Trophy, for the champion at the club’s autumn show and sale: Coolcrannel Dusty bred by William Phair, Lisbellaw.
SH Watterson (Oakland) Perpetual Cup, for the top priced bull at the club’s spring show and sale: Kilbride Farm Doagh bred by WH Robson and Sons, Doagh.
Irwin Perpetual Challenge Cup, for the supreme overall champion at Balmoral Show: Slieveroe Caroline owned by Leslie and Christopher Weatherup, Ballyclare.
Silver Award, for the male champion at Balmoral Show: Killynure Darwin bred by Raymond and Joan Porter, Omagh.
The News Letter Shield, for the junior champion at Balmoral Show: Killynure Darwin bred by Raymond and Joan Porter.
