Monitoring Simmental Cattle Performance in Cumbria & Yorkshire Dales Trials

by | Jul 15, 2015

Quick Answer

The British Simmental Cattle Society is participating in trials across Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales to monitor the performance of different cattle breeds on common or rough grazing land. These trials aim to increase understanding of how grazing affects animal growth rates, the quality and quantity of available grass, and the rough grazing vegetation itself. Notably, 6 of the 12 participating farmers in these trials currently include Simmentals or Simmental crosses within their herds.
