The breed saw tremendous trade at the Spring sale at Stirling on Monday 15th February, the pre sale show on Sunday was judged by Gary Christie, Birchfield, Glass, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, AB54 4XS.
122 Bulls sold through the ring to average £5675, an increase of £711 on the year for an 80% clearance, the highest of any breed so far this year.
Topping the day’s trade was the Intermediate & Reserve Overall Champion Kilbride Farm Foreman from W H Robson and Sons, 106 Coghry Road, Doagh, Ballyclare, County Antrim, N Ireland, BT39 0PX, a Crugmelyn Brenin son out of a Milnafua Graduate daughter, selling for 22,000gns to Clive Houldey, Kirtleton House, Waterbeck, Lockerbie, DG11 3HD.
Second top at 17,000gns was Wolfstar Flying Scotsman, bred by Mr A King, Wolfstar, Ormiston, East Lothian, EH35 5NH. A Team Celtic son out of a Starline Klassik daughter, purchased in partnership by by Mr D Lowry, Newsteadings Farm, Cartland, Lanark, Lanarkshire, ML11 7RB and Bridget Borlase, Sacombe Hill Farm, Sacombe Hill, Waton on Stone, Hertfordshire, SG14 3NL
Next at 16,000gns was Senior Champion Islavale Ferrari, bred by Mr W S Stronach, Berryleys Farm, Grange, Keith, Banffshire, AB55 6LN, a Curaheen Bandit son out of a Darsham Lucky Strike daughter, purchased by Mrs A Jukes, Swallowhill House, Bourne Lane, Sandhurst, Kent, TN18 5NT.
Selling for 15,000gns was the Reserve Intermediate Champion Kilbride Farm Fearless from W H Robson and Sons, 106 Coghry Road, Doagh, Ballyclare, County Antrim, N Ireland, BT39 0PX, a Crugmelyn Brenin son out of a Kilbride Farm Newry daughter. The purchaser was the Judge Gary Christie, Birchfield, Glass, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, AB54 4XS.
Selling for 14,000gns was Wolfstar Fearless bred by Mr A King, Wolfstar, Ormiston, East Lothian, EH35 5NH, a Team Celtic son out of a Dirnanean Vincent daughter, purchased by Mr J Shouler, Elm Tree Farm, Wendlebury, Bicester, Oxfordshire, OX25 2QA.
Four bulls then traded at 10,000gns. First, was the Reserve Junior Champion Denizes Fantastic from Mr M A Barlow of Four Oaks, Ulnes, Walton Lane, Nr Leyland, Lancashire PR26 8LT, this Whitemire King Kong son out of a Ashland Tornado daughter was purchased by Mr J Wilson, 4 Martins Lane, Dorans Hill, Newry, County Down, N Ireland, BT35 8PJ.
Next, also at 10,000gns was Corskie Freddy, bred by Mr WJ & J Green, Corskie, Garmouth, Fochabers, Moray IV32 7NN. This Greencap Ace son out of a Popes Laird daughter was purchased by Mr C J G Clarke, Villa Farm, Cretingham Road, Otley, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP6 9PB.
Again at 10,000gns was Popes Fendt bred by M/S J H & V G Wood of Popes Farm, Longridge Road, Dutton, Preston, Lanchashire, PR3 2YT, a Kilbride Farm Comber son out of a Banwy Wonderboy daughter, purchased by Mr Thomas Hill, 1 Mill Farm, Daw Lane, Wadworth, Doncaster, DN11 9DX.
The last at 10,000gns was Drumlone Fabulous bred by K C Veitch, Drumlone, Lisbellaw, County Fermanagh, N Ireland, BT94 5PN, a Carnkern Titan son out of a Raceview King daughter, purchased by Mr H Brunton, Crudie Farm, Arbroath, Angus, DD11 2NR.

Female Champion and selling at 3,900gns was Slievenagh Flirt, bred by Mr R J Boyd, Slievenagh Farm, 78 Ballynafie Road, Portglenone, County Antrim, N Ireland BT44 8DQ, an Auroch Amos daughter out of a Kilbride Farm Newry daughter purchased by Mr J N Glasgow, 30 Creevagh Road, Cookstown, County Tyrone, N Ireland, BT80 9QU.
The Reserve Female Champion Drumsleed Flick sold for 3,800gns, bred by Mr G W Smith, Drumsleed, Fordoun, Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire, AB30 1SL. This Grangewood William daughter out of a Drumsleed Lanzarote daughter was purchased by Mr J E Dyet, East Merkland Farm, Sandford, Strathaven, Lanarkshire ML10 6PR.
