GERRARD BELINDA WINS CLASS SIX OF THE 2022 SIMMENTAL VIRTUAL SHOW


The final class of this year’s Simmental ‘Virtual’ Show has now been judged and with a fantastic 51 entries into Class Six, Cow any age, In milk. A sincere thank you is extended to everyone who has entered and supported this year’s competition, it is greatly appreciated. It has been great to see entries from all around the UK and the huge interest that this show has again generated.

This week’s winner Gerrard Belinda 60th is an entry from Kenneth Pilkington, Danby Wiske, North Yorkshire, and who was bred by Mr RH Carter & Son, Wigton, Cumbria. Gerrard Belinda 60th, is a July 2017-born daughter of the 20,000gns Stirling Male & Intermediate Champion Kilbride Farm Comber and bred out of Gerrard Belinda 40th who goes back to popular AI bull Blackford Harvester.

The top five places for this class have been awarded by the Judge, Rob Fitton of Simply Simmentals, Lostock, Lancashire, as follows:
1st – Gerrard Belinda 60th
2nd – Kilbride Farm Eunice 223H
3rd – Mixbury-Hall Galaxy
4th – Newbiemains Ice Queen
5th – Eaton Kenita

KINGPIN ‘STRIKES’ TO WIN CLASS FIVE OF THE 2022 SIMMENTAL VIRTUAL SHOW

We are moving through the classes of this year’s competition and again with a high standard forward from around the country. Thank you to everyone who has had a go and continues to promote the Simmental breed so well.

This week’s winner of Class Five, Senior Bull Born on or Before 31st December 2019 is Grangewood Kingpin 19 from the Mixbury Hall herd of Mr V C Bailey, Brackley, Northamptonshire. Purchased for 8,000gns at Stirling in February 2021, Kingpin was bred by Mr & Mrs AS & YA Leedham, Pickering, North Yorkshire, and has gone on to breed 14 progeny into his new herd so far. Sired by the 19,000gns Stirling Reserve Senior Champion Grangewood Baron 10, this October-2019 born bull was bred out of Grangewood Sahara’s Gold.

The top five places for this class have been awarded by the Judge, Gavin Brown of Springfield Simmentals, Penicuik, Midlothian, as follows:

BRITISH SIMMENTAL WELCOMES SUE STENNER TO ITS STAFF TEAM

British Simmental is delighted to officially announce that Sue Stenner has joined the Society’s staff team at the Society’s Stoneleigh, Warwickshire based office. Having commenced her role as a Herd Book Administrator in late July, Sue has very much hit the ground running familiarising herself with all aspects of the Society’s work and introducing herself to members as they phone in. Having worked previously with pedigree beef breed societies over some twenty years, Sue brings a wealth of all-round ability to British Simmental with extensive experience in managing herd books, membership services, and also in communications and event organisation.

BSCS General Manager Iain Kerr said: “With experience, energy and personality, Sue will be a great fit with her Herd Book colleagues Nicky Moreton and Rachel Foley, and we warmly welcome her to British Simmental. From here members of the Simmental staff team will be out and about this autumn meeting members at forward Society sales and industry events, and promoting British Simmental.”

Sue replaces Kate Stephens who left the Society’s employment in April and the Society would like to thank Kate for her work and to extend very best wishes for her new challenges ahead.

IT’S A LOTTI ‘ROLLOVER’ AS KILLIWORGIE HEIFER WINS CLASS FOUR OF THE 2022 SIMMENTAL VIRTUAL SHOW

The 2022 Simmental Virtual Show is again proving to have a huge following and we are now delighted to announce the results for class four – Female, born on between 01/01/2020 – 31/07/2021.

A big congratulations is due to Mr SA Gummow, Newquay, Cornwall, whose heifer calf Killiworgie Mirandas Lotti has been awarded the red rosette. Sired by the 2017 English National Show Reserve Champion Lynfield Hamish 16, this January-2022 born heifer is out of the Sussex-bred Boars Head Miranda, who goes back to the Irish-bred AI bull Seaview Prince Charming.

We had another fantastic entry of 71 heifers and the top five places have been awarded by the Judge, Frank Kelly of Ashland Simmentals, Co Fermanagh, as follows:

1st – Killiworgie Mirandas Lotti
2nd – Thorncliff Moya
3rd – Auchorachan Liqueur Madie
4th – Corskie Le-enna
5th – Kilbride Farm Eunice 327M

AUCHORACHAN MALT IS SINGLED OUT AS THE WINNER OF CLASS THREE OF THE 2022 BRITISH SIMMENTAL VIRTUAL SHOW

We are delighted to announce the results for class three of the British Simmental 2022 Virtual show – Bull, born on or between 01/01/2020 – 31/07/2021.

Congratulations to D & R Durno & Sons, Ballindalloch, Banffshire, whose March 2021-born bull Auchorachan Malt 21 was awarded first place. From homebred breeding on both sides, he is sired by the noted Auchorachan Hercules 16, whose sons averaged £10,500 in 2021 and up to a top of 18,000gns. Hercules has bred almost 60 progeny into the herd and a further 40 AI calves so far, while his Dam is Auchorachan Hilly, who goes back to the 9,000gns Team Fergus 14.

We had a great entry of 28 bulls and the top five places have been awarded by the Judge, Richard Cumming of Cwarre Simmentals, as follows:
1st – Auchorachan Malt 21
2nd – Rockytop Macduff
3rd – Auchorachan Magic
4th – Kilbride Farm Majestic 21
5th – Kilbride Farm Merlin 21
